At Bodie (“we,” “us,” “our”), operated by Bodie Inc., we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at https://bodie.example (the “Site”) and to inquiries about our private-beta software (the “Service”). By using the Site or submitting an inquiry, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
This is a holding template and does not constitute legal advice. Please have qualified counsel review this Policy before publishing.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Bodie Inc., Alexandria, VA. For privacy questions, contact us at privacy@bodie.example or through our Contact page at bodie.example/contact.
2. Information we collect
a) Information you provide directly
Name, restaurant name, role, email, phone, location, POS and vendor information, and any message you include when you apply for the beta or contact us.
b) Automatically collected information
Standard web logs and analytics: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referral source. If you enable analytics (see Cookies below), we may also collect aggregated usage metrics. We do not use cross-site tracking for advertising.
c) What we do NOT collect through the Site
We do not collect payment card numbers, government IDs, or guest personal data through the Site’s contact and beta-application forms. Restaurant operational data (POS, vendor, and similar) is collected only after a separate, explicit authorization during onboarding and is governed by a separate agreement.
3. How we use your information
- To review and respond to your beta application or inquiry;
- To communicate with you about the beta, onboarding, and product updates you have requested or consented to;
- To operate, secure, and improve the Site;
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms;
- We do not sell your personal information.
4. How we share your information
We share information only as needed to operate the Site:
- Service providers: Email delivery (Resend — see resend.com/privacy), hosting, and analytics providers that process data on our behalf under contractual obligations;
- Legal: When required by law or to protect rights, safety, and property;
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to continued protection of your information;
- We do not share your information with restaurant vendors, POS providers, or other restaurants without your explicit direction.
5. Email communications (Resend)
When you submit a form on the Site, we use Resend to deliver transactional emails (for example, a confirmation of your submission) and, only if you opt in, occasional product updates. Each marketing email includes an opt-out mechanism. Transactional emails related to your inquiry may still be sent even if you opt out of marketing. See our Resend email templates on file.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use only essential cookies necessary to operate the Site. If we add analytics cookies in the future, we will update this Policy and, where required, request your consent before setting them. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
7. Data retention
We retain inquiry and application information for as long as needed to respond to your request and for a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping, not to exceed 24 months unless you become a beta partner (in which case retention is governed by your beta agreement) or unless a longer period is required by law. You may request deletion as described below.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@bodie.example. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may also opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us.
If you are in a jurisdiction that requires a specific legal basis for processing (for example, the EEA/UK), our basis is typically your consent, performance of a contract (responding to your inquiry), or our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. International transfers
If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other jurisdictions where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice on the Site or by email. Your continued use of the Site after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
